A poor shoeshine boy asked a wealthy client if he had a pair of old shoes
which he wasn’t making use of anymore. “What size do you wear?” asked the
man. “Oh, that mostly depends on who gives them to me. Sometimes I wear
sixes and sometimes twelves,” replied the lad. The boy had learned to be
content in whosoever shoes he was in.
Just as the boy’s ill fitting shoes sometimes pinched and pressured his
feet, life’s circumstances may sometimes pinch and pressure you. At such
times, accept Jesus’ invitation offered in Matthew 11:28,29 to ‘Come unto
Me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest...unto
your souls.’
A rested soul is a contented soul.
