Since 1901 the Nobel Peace Prize has been awarded each year to some person who has made valuable contributions in promoting international peace. It is funded by the interest generated from a $9 million endowment made by Alfred Nobel (1833-1896). In the later years of his life, Nobel suffered greatly from feelings of guilt for having invented dynamite which could be used in wartime to cause death and destruction. Therefore, he devised the Nobel Peace Prize to promote peace among the nations of the world. Unfortunately his plan has not brought about the end of wars.
Lasting peace will only come when we let Jesus Christ, The Prince Of Peace rule in our hearts. "For He is our peace" (Ephesians 2:14).
