Empty Shoes

 Be filled with the Spirit...

(Ephesians 5:18)

Boot     The English measuring system of “feet and inches” was created by England's King Edward II (1284-1327) in 1324 as a means to measure shoe sizes. Edward placed three grains of barley end-to-end and called the distance one "inch". He then measured the length of his own foot, which was 36 grains long and called the distance one "foot". 36 barley grains divided by 3 barley grains equals 12. Thus 12 inches equal one foot. Shoe sizes were then graded by thirds of an inch -- the length of one grain of barley.
Regardless of what size shoe you wear, your shoes will never get anywhere as long as they are empty. Only when they are filled with your feet will they go places. Likewise, we cannot get anywhere in our spiritual walk as long as our heart is empty of Jesus. Only when we confess our sins and invite him to fill us with his Holy Spirit can we spiritually go places and get to Heaven.
