Grudge Not

Thou shalt not... bear any grudge...

(Leviticus 19:18)

Edison+Tesla     Nikola Tesla (1856-1943), a pioneer in the science of electricity, worked in conjunction with the Westinghouse Electric Company to devise a means of transmitting electricity over long distances using alternating current. Thomas Edison (1847-1931), the inventor of the electric light bulb, condemned Tesla's idea of alternating current as unsafe. Thus, Tesla developed hard feelings towards Edison. In 1912, the Nobel Prize in physics was jointly offered to Tesla and Edison; but because of Tesla's grudge towards Edison, he refused the honor and both men's names were withdrawn by the awards committee.
Tesla's grudge not only hurt Edison, it also hurt himself. In preventing Edison from being honored, he himself was not honored. Likewise when we hold a grudge and seek revenge against someone whom we feel has unjustly done us wrong, we not only hurt them, but we also hurt ourselves. Therefore, try not to dwell on unpleasant thoughts from the past. "Forget those things which are behind"
(Phi 3:13) and think on "whatsoever things are lovely..." (Phi 4:8).
