The earliest auctions are believed to have occurred in Babylon, around 500 B.C., where each year an annual wedding auction was held to sell women for the purpose of marriage. Roman soldiers also used auctions to sell their spoils of war and liquidate personal belongings. Today, everything from collectibles to farm animals are sold at actions. When the winning bid is placed, the auctioneer hammers his gavel and announces, "Going - going - gone!"
Life is somewhat like an auction. Today, we are living in the "going - going" phase of life. In this phase, our body is wearing out and is in the process of slowly going. But, we still have time to choose whom we will sell out our soul to -- Jesus Christ or the devil. Once our body dies and enters into the "gone" phase, we will no longer have the opportunity to choose where we will spend eternity.
Therefore, before you are completely gone from this world, make your choice today. "Choose... the Lord... and... obey His voice... for He is... life..." (Deu 30:19,20).
