Back In The Game

Through God we shall do valiantly...

(Psalm 108:13)

Baseball     The well known term "dropped the ball" originated, during the 1941 World Series when catcher, Arnold (Mickey) Owen (1916-2005), missed an important catch that cost his team, the Brooklyn Dodgers, the pennant against the New York Yankees. Owen never let his error or other people's derogatory remarks about it deter him. He picked up the ball and got back into the game. In doing so, he went on to become an all-star player for four consecutive years, from 1941-1944.
Like Mickey Owen, we all have dropped the ball in the game of life. But, dropping the ball now and then doesn't make a person a loser. Just as Mickey Owen went beyond his failure to become an all-star player, we also "shall overcome at the last"
(Gen 49:19) when we "commit (our) way unto the Lord (and) trust... in Him" (Ps 37:5). Therefore, "be of good courage," (Ps 31:24) for "God... always causeth us to triumph in Christ" (2Co 2:14).
