 "Foxfire" is the faint greenish-blue glow generated by the bioluminescent golden honey mushroom. Growing at the base of trees, it glows beautifully on late summer and autumn nights. Though beautiful on the outside, deep within the mushroom's thread-like filaments, called mycelium, work destruction by spreading into the tree's roots -- robbing it of needed water and nutrients. This causes the tree to eventually die of root-rot.
Many a person, like the golden honey mushroom, glows on the outside while deep within the cares of life, as mycelium, work destruction -- robbing them of their joy. Nehemiah 8:10 tells us that "the joy of the Lord is your strength." Satan knows, if he can rob you of your joy, he can also rob you of your strength. Once when "David was greatly distressed... (he) ...encouraged himself in the Lord" (1Sa 30:6). When you feel cast down, be like king David and "cast all your care upon (the Lord)" (1Pe 5:7). He will turn "your sorrow... into joy" (Jn 16:20).
