Mistaken Identity

 The Lord... shall exalt thee...
(Psalm 37:34)

U.S. Grant     In March of 1864, Ulysses S. Grant (1822-1885) was appointed supreme commander of the U.S. Union army. Upon his arrival in Washington, DC to accept his commission, Grant checked into the Willard Hotel. Weary looking from his journey, he did not appear to be the national hero that he really was. The hotel clerk mistook him for an ordinary soldier and assigned him a mediocre room. Upon reading Grant's name in the register, he realized his mistake and gave him better accommodations.
Just as the hotel clerk failed to recognize Grant's greatness, the world may also fail to recognize your greatness. As Christians, "Jesus Christ... hath made us kings and priests unto God"
(Rev 1:4,5). But because "the world knoweth us not" (1Jo 3:1), it tends to frown upon us and Christianity. Nevertheless "be of good courage" (Ps 31:24) and remember who you are in Christ. For "the Lord... shall lift you up" (Jam 4:10) and "exalt you in due time" (1Pe 5:6).
