 Bighorn sheep are so named because of the male ram's big curvy horns. Found in the Rocky Mountain range from Canada to New Mexico, their habitat consists of alpine meadows near rocky cliffs and steep bluffs onto which they can climb to escape predators. Their unique hooves and extraordinary jumping abilities allow them to easily climb to high places out of harm's way.
Like the bighorn sheep, "he that walketh righteously... shall dwell on high" (Isa 33:15,16). For "the Lord... raiseth up... the feet of his saints" (1Sa 2:7,8,9) and "setteth... on high from affliction" (Ps 107:41). As "the high hills are a refuge for the wild goats" (Ps 104:18) even so shall "the Lord also... be a refuge for the oppressed... in times of trouble" (Ps 9:9). "He will make their feet like hind's feet and set them upon high places" (Ps 18:33 Paraphrased).
