Mr. Hockey

Press toward the… prize ...and... faint not.

(Philippians 3:14; Galatians 6:9)

Hockey     Gordon "Gordie" Howe (1928-2016), known in the sports world as "Mr. Hockey," is considered the greatest hockey player of all time. He set a 32 year endurance record, playing 26 seasons with the National Hockey League and 6 seasons with the World Hockey Association. He was a comeback kid who pressed on in spite of his many injuries ranging from a fractured skull in 1950 to a near brush with death in 1980 when he slid into his own net, lifting the goal post with his skates, causing the metal spike that held the post in place to impale him. His career was one of the greatest in hockey history. One for which he reaped many benefits and prizes.
Likewise you also may have been injured in the game of life, but don't let that stop you. Keep serving Jesus and press on, "for your... affliction worketh for you... eternal glory"
(2Cor 4:17). Therefore "endure hardness" (2Tim 2:3) and, like Gordie, "be not weary in well doing, for in due season you shall reap, if you faint not" (Gal 6:9 Paraphrased).
