Following the Normandy Invasion on June 6th, 1944, Lieutenant General George Patton (1885-1945) took command of the American Third Army. In early December they were poised to cross the Rhine River into Germany, but relentless rains had bogged them down. Desperate to press forward on December 8th, Patton had his chaplain, James O'Neill, write a prayer asking God for good weather. He told O'Neill, "If we all pray, it will be… one of the most powerful forms of energy man can generate…" He had the prayer printed on small cards and given to every soldier under his command. On December 23rd, in answer to their prayer, the skies cleared enabling the Allies to launch devastating bombing raids on the Germans. Soon they were marching into Germany and won the victory on May 8, 1945.
Just as Patton's prayers changed the outcome of his battles, your prayers to Jehovah God will also change the outcome of your battles in life. Therefore "ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full" (Jn 16:24).
