Soon after the United States entered World War 2 in 1942, a baby-faced 17 year old Texas farm boy named Audie Murphy (1925–1971) tried to join the Marines. When they saw how puny he was, they turned him down. The paratroopers also rejected him. He was reluctantly accepted by the Army and sent to Sicily where he proved to be an excellent soldier. By war's end, in May 1945, Murphy had advanced to the rank of Second Lieutenant and had became America's most decorated soldier. That's not bad for a scrawny guy who had not yet reached his 21st birthday.
Perhaps you, like Audie Murphy, have also been turned down and rejected. If so, don't give up. As Murphy proved, "the race is not always to the swift, nor the battle to the strong" (Ecc 9:11). "You can do all things through Christ who strengtheneth you" (Phil 4:13). Therefore "commit thy way unto the Lord and trust... in Him" (Ps 37:5); for "with God all things are possible" (Mt 19:26).
