 On December 15, 1965, American astronauts, in two separate space capsules, made the first ever rendezvous in space. On December 4th, Gemini 7 was launched into earth's orbit carrying Frank Borman and Jim Lovell. Eleven days later, on December 15th, Gemini 6 took to the skies with Wally Schirra and Tom Stafford onboard to meet up with Borman and Lovell. Once in orbit, Schirra and Stafford began maneuvering their craft towards their fellow astronauts. Before long they were cruising alongside Gemini 7. For three orbits, the two crafts circled the earth together. Their successful meeting in the air, brought the American space program another step closer to landing a man on the moon.
Like the astronauts, God's saints are also going to have a rendezvous in space one day, when "the Lord himself shall descend from heaven… and… we… shall be caught up together… to meet Him in the air" (1Thes 4:16,17. What a hallelujah meeting that will be, when "death is swallowed up in victory" (1Cor 15:54).
