At the end of World War I, in 1918, Americans were buying automobiles with hopes of traveling and seeing the U.S.A. To aid them in their quest, the Victory Highway Association was organized in 1921. Its mission was to designate and maintain a transcontinental highway dedicated to the American soldiers who had died in the recent war. They created the Victory Highway to aid auto-pioneers in their travels between New York City and San Francisco. In 1926 the U.S. Highway System eliminated named roadways and replaced them with numbered highways. Thus the Victory Highway was replaced by U.S. Route 40.
Like America's Victory Highway, God also has a victory highway called the "Highway... of Holiness" (Isa 35:8). It's "the highway of the upright" (Pro 16:17) "which leadeth unto eternal life" (Mt 7:14). Therefore "walk in the way of the Lord" (Jdg 2:22 paraphrased) and He will "give you the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ" (1Cor 15:57).
